Nurmoja, Jaanus | 23.06.1967, Freelancer journalist and musicien (conductor & composer) from Estonia. Has been acted as a conductor of Rakvere Male Choir; as a journalist, writing mainly for Lääne-Viru county local newspapers (daily Virumaa Teataja and weekly Kuulutaja). Earlier worked in Estonian Radio news as news editor, Tallinn City Government as a press-secretary, later many years did the similar job in Rakvere City Government and was also short time a TV producer. Idea
parental stipend | 23.06.1967, proposed in 2017 as an alternative to UBI in order to improve the demographic situation. The parental stipend should not replace parental benefit, but supplement it. Payment of the stipend would start after the end of the payment of parental benefit and would last until the children reach the age of majority. Traditional Estonian word used in meaning of Basic Income - põhisissetulek - could also mean "main icome". Popular term "kodanikupalk" (Citizens salary) is often criticized as salary should be for some work.

personalized citizenʼs currency with a limited usage area | (in Estonian - piiratud kasutusvaldkonnaga isiksustatud kodanikuvaluuta, PKIK) - a narrowed version of the Basic Income proposed by Mihkel Kunnus, Estonian writer in 2016. It would be fully personalized, only for citizens. All payments could be made only with ID-card. It could not be collected - every month a citizen would receive some amount (say 500 euros) guaranteed by the state and all previously remained amount would be reset to zero. (...)

popular stipendium | an alternative to the term "citizens wage" that is the most popular among the terms meaning a basic income. It has been considered, however, as more exact as the "wage" means traditionally that the money is earned with work. This term "rahvastipendium" was proposed by an Estonian futurist Guido Viik.
Problem
poverty and the possibility of falling into it | framework problem for which the unconditional basic income is intended to solve. The aim is to ensure, without bureaucracy, that, despite the correlation between a personʼs income and his or her success in the labor market, there is no chance of him or her falling into poverty. When this opportunity disappears, the fear of poverty, which is one of the biggest obstacles to a personʼs freedom of choice, disappears.

Schmidt, Enno | 14.11.1958, Swiss painter, author and filmmaker, the nationʼs main advocate for a basic income. With Daniel Häni, he founded an initiative in 2006 and two year later they published a film about basic income idea that could be watched also via this website. As the most important result of their initiatvie, the referendum about basic income will be held in June 2016.
